Richard Durnan is a professional freelance photographer and traveler of the world. For over 16 years his adventures and unique perspective allow him to create striking and sensitive images of spectacular landscapes and unique cultures. Richard specializes in cultural, adventure travel, and sports imagery for both advertising and editorial clients such as National Geographic Adventure and Patagonia. In addition to running his own stock photo company Richard’s work is represented by Image State, Superstock, and Aurora / Getty Images.


Richard resides in Ridgway, Colorado. In addition to local workshops and photography classes, he leads photography trek workshops to unusual places such as Ladakh, India, and the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador teaching students how to create images that celebrate culture, landscape and activities in the outdoors. GO Date
"Go" Date:  February 8, 2010

The "go" date is the date at which WCA determines whether there are enough students or not to run the class.  If this is a class you are interested in, please be sure to enroll before the "Go" date (and encourage your friends to do so as well) so that we can be sure to run the class! We will notify you at the end of the business day on the "GO" date if the class is to be cancelled so that you can make other plans for that date, but ideally, we'll see you at the class!

 

 

Course Description

Learn the power of your digital point and shoot camera.

Learn the power of your digital point and shoot camera.  This class is for anyone with any or no level of expertise.  This class is perfect if you want to learn the basics of operating your camera, and for artists that work in other mediums  (for example, a painter may want to capture images from which to work).  Topics covered will include:
  • How the camera works
  • Operation of your camera
  • Composition for photography
  • Getting your digital images to print form

Notes

Supply list to be provided by students:

Digital Point and Shoot Camera with BLANK memory card

Card reader or camera cords for connecting to computer

Camera Manual for the camera they bring

If available, bring your laptop computer with photo software installed (Photoshop, or Photoshop elements recommended)

Note taking materials

Appropriate clothing for being outdoors

Students should bring a sack lunch or plan on taking a break to go out to lunch for one hour

Students are welcome to bring snacks and beverages of their liking to class
