How does a garden grow?  Where does food come from?  Ever pulled a vegetable fresh from the ground you’ve grown yourself?  We will be doing all these fun activities and more this summer as we grow the first beds of the Weehawken Children’s Garden!  Students will learn how to plant seeds and starters and nurture them all the way thru to harvest.  Each week will be a new adventure as the garden grows!  Students do not have to come every week, but regular participation is encouraged!  Bring garden gloves (if you have) and get ready to play in the dirt! This program is free, however we need your dedication to work hard to help it grow!

Be sure to check the schedule for all the great youth programming this summer!  Classes in areas such as tumbling, dance, art, and clay are going on now!  Be sure to enroll in the fun!

Amateur sculptors as young as 14 from across the Western Slope of Colorado have a shot at winning big-time prize money by participating in the Second Annual Ridgway Amateur Sculpture Contest.

Weehawken Creative Arts and Ridgway sculptors Mike McCullough & John Billings have teamed up to host the event, scheduled for 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, June 22 at Ridgway Town Hall.  Participants will have two hours to sculpt five pounds of clay; a panel of professional artists will then determine the winners and award cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250 for first, second and third place respectively.

Looking for some fun and educational options for the kids this summer?  Weeehawken will be offering all types of options from dance workshops, musical theater, storybook ballet, fashion camp,  art classes, clay camps and more!  The full details are on the Children’s page or check our flyers that are through out town!

Karate has been off longer than we had hoped…but please keep checking in!!!

As you hopefully already know,
the Sensei must leave town for an extended period to settle his business in his hometown.
Therefore effective April 15, there will be NO Karate classes until further notice.
We WILL resume classes as soon as possible and
Will notify everyone by email when this occurs.
For those that have paid already you will be pro-rated for the unused portion of the tuition and a credit will be put on your account.

Weehawken Creative Arts is pleased to announce the 1^st Annual SNEFFELS FIBER FESTIVAL, September 13 and 14, 2013!  This event will be held at the 4-H Events Center, a 5,000 square-foot state of the art facility located at the intersection of Hwys. 550 and 62 at the Ouray County Fairgrounds in Ridgway.

We will market the festival extensively in the region in collaboration with the Silverton Quilt Fest being held on September 14th and 15th.   We will also advertise the Sneffels Fiber Festival more widely via Facebook and other internet resources, radio, the Colorado Tourism Board, various guilds, newspapers and Chambers of Commerce.

The event will include live animals—some of our local yaks, alpacas, maybe even a camel . . . And it will be fun and FREE for the whole family!

Been wanting to try out the new pottery painting studio but haven’t found the time?  Plan to come to our OPEN STUDIO TIMES!

• All Ages:   Wednesdays from 10 am – Noon
• All Ages:   Saturdays from Noon – 4 pm
