About the Instructor: "Photographing lets me see and feel a part of the environment, whether a soaring mountain or a tiny wildflower," says Steve Traudt. "This seeing leads to more awareness, which in turn enhances the seeing yet more. The whole process is addictive!" Raised in Nebraska, Traudt moved to Grand Junction in 1987 where he and wife, Fay Timmerman, established Quilt Junction and Gallery 412 which they operated for 9 years. He teaches photography at 13 Photography Gallery and Western Colorado Community College, conducts photography workshops and seminars, is a certified scuba diver, a writer and a pharmacist. He's exhibited photographs extensively around the world, lectures locally and nationally and especially enjoys sharing his enthusiasm through teaching. Steve has been invited to lead photo trips to such exotic locales as Costa Rica and the Galapagos. His magazine articles have appeared in various publications including Nature Photographer magazine. He's a member of The North American Nature Photography Association; The National Assoc. of Photoshop Professionals and The Photographic Society of America from which he holds the honor of Associate. Traudt calls his photographs Synergistic Visions. He explains synergism as the cooperative interaction of several elements to yield a superior result. For Traudt, photography is synergism of such elements as the brain, emotions, vision, film, lenses and the camera. Since photography is both art and craft, Traudt views this synergism as a marriage of left-brain and right-brain activities. Steve just launched a new book that showcases just an aspect of his talent called Fantastic Voyage featuring blurb images (which he will soon also teach a workshop on). See the book and sampels at: http://www.blurb.com/my/book/detail/1378253 Visit Steve at: www.synvis.com Dick Colby assists Steve to help keep the students on track. His computer and Photoshop background is invaluable and greatly enhances the learning. Call WCA at (970) 318-0150 or Register

GO
Date |
June 15, 2010 The "go" date is the date at which WCA determines whether there are enough students or not to run the class. If this is a class you are interested in, please be sure to enroll before the "Go" date (and encourage your friends to do so as well) so that we can be sure to run the class! We will notify you at the end of the business day on the "GO" date if the class is to be cancelled so that you can make other plans for that date, but ideally, we'll see you at the class! |

Notes |
Supply List: Students are welcome to bring their laptop computer if they have one. It is also useful, but not required, if the laptop has a recent version of Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. You also need to bring your digital camera, lenses and tripod. A “cable release” is recommended too. You’ll need a card reader or some way to transfer your images from the memory card to your laptop. Bring appropriate clothing as we will be shooting outside for an hour or two. You can bring a sack lunch or go downtown for lunch. |
