Nature and landscape photography transcends "pretty postcards" when made by creatively engaged photographers who understand their motivations, subjects, and tools. My goal is to provide you with the inspiration, knowledge, and hands-on learning to help advance your creativity and photography skills with an emphasis on nature and landscape photography. This workshop is suitable for all experience levels and offers a unique blend of philosophy, field work, and classroom instruction in beautiful settings. We'll cover photographic fundamentals; precision exposure and capture; image aesthetics; special tips and techniques; and conclude with an overview of post-processing basics using both Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.
January 19: Art Bar: Malbec Sipping & Metal Tooling with Ann Cheeks!
Metal tooling is a centuries-old art in which a soft metal is worked with a rounded tool on the back side in order to create a raised design on the front. It is also referred to as repoussé or embossing. A close look at some examples from various cultures reveals classic examples of repetitive pattern and rhythmic line incorporated into a design. We will be using a soft, flexible metal that is easily manipulated with pencils or other tools without applying heavy pressure. Participants will walk away with three or more 5"x5" squares that can be connected to form a dyptich or folded around a cylinder to place around a votive candle. $35 includes all supplies and one drink at the bar!
