Working Boldly and Finding Your Voice in Mixed Media with Kellie Day
June 16, 10 am to 3 pm at Montrose Field House
Bring your favorite colors, bring your passion, your taste and your style – in this class we will push big free expression and developing your unique voice as an artist through mixed media painting. Painting big and bold is an opportunity to throw your passion onto the canvas.
If you’ve been looking for a chance to express yourself creatively in a big way, this class will teach you to go bigger and bolder than you’ve gone before. Local mixed media painter and professional illustrator Kellie Day will show you how to develop your own artist style by creating large shapes, choosing a color palette, expanding bold negative spaces, and combining your own, loose drawing or doodling to the canvas to come up with a one-of-a-kind, big bold expression that is all yours. Bring tear sheets from magazines that have color palettes you love. Bring uncoated decorative papers, letters or type or book pages to collage. Bring ideas on objects or still lifes to draw. We’ll create large loose shapes to practice free expression and break out of tight painting ruts. Then use decorative papers to add finishing touches. This class is about you expressing yourself, relaxing, and learning a little more about what makes your own art unique.
