Michael McCullough's 7th Annual Amateur Sculpting Contest 2019 for Adults & Youth
Now in its seventh year, Michael McCullough's Annual Amateur Sculpting Contest attracts amateur sculptors as young as 14 from across the Western Slope of Colorado to sculpt five pounds of clay into a masterpiece in just two hours; a panel of professional artists determines the winners and awards hefty cash prizes.
In honor of Michael McCullough, John Billings, together with Sculpture House and Weehawken Creative Arts will present The 7th Annual Ridgway Amateur Sculpting Contest Sunday, June 9th.
Artist Check-in will run from 12:30 until 1 pm at the Sherbino Theater at 604 Clinton St. The contest will run from 1 pm until 3 pm for adults at Sherbino Theater and 1 pm until 2:30 pm for youth at 610 Arts Collective (next door at 610 Clinton St.). The public is welcome to silently observe during the 2 hour creation period. Refreshments and treats will be served outside during the entire event and people will be encouraged to play with multiple clay materials at "play stations".
