Who is required to take summer dance classes?

Pointe students are required to participate in summer dance classes. Students starting Pointe classes in the 2019/2020 calendar year are required to participate in summer dance classes. This means a minimum of 9 hours of dance work this summer. This can be fulfilled with one intensive, or by attending weekly classes.

NEW THIS YEAR! We will not be allowing drop-ins for intensives, students must register by the week so we can determine whether that week will run. Make-up classes will be allowed, but please note that not all week intensives are guaranteed to take place. It is dancer's responsibility to make sure they have scheduled enough dance classes/hours to continue on pointe. All Dance Intensives meet the necessary pre-requisite for summer dance.

Contact: Please contact Natasha if you have any questions about placement, levels, schedule, ect. Enrollment for “ intensive” classes (Mon-Wed level 3-6 classes in Ridgway) will be closed by noon on the Friday prior to the week of camp. She will e-mail you any class changes (times and location) that may occur based on enrollment sometime between Friday afternoon-Sunday. Some classes may be split or combined as the teacher deems appropriate. Classes also may be cancelled if they do not meet the minimum enrollments. If you plan to be at class but don't have time to register, please e-mail her so she can add you to the e-mail list and make sure you have the correct information.

  • Students who dance in the summer audition better and dance better in the fall dance semester. If you're really hoping for lead roles, year round participation is very important for your growth as a dancer.
  • ALL Dance Students are encouraged to participate in summer dance classes.
  • Our summer schedule is simple, Mon-Thurs., as it still allows everyone plenty of family time and is very affordable.
  • Dress Code: Uniforms are NOT required in the summer session, but dance clothes are. Please follow our dress code guidelines at it applies to classes you plan to attend.

Summer Aerial Silks Registration will Open April 15!

We are offering two 4 week sessions, with 2 time/level options, on Wednesdays in Montrose at Black Canyon Gymnastics. Session 1 will run June 5-26 and Session 2 will run July 10-July 31.

Aerial Silks classes are limited to age 12, unless invited/referred, and are 100% non-refundable at time of registration.

Imperial Ballet Begins!

The roots of Imperial Classical Ballet stem from the early days of the ISTD and the first written syllabus in 1913, which was based on the teaching of the French School from the Paris Opéra. The syllabus has now evolved to promote the English classical style and address the changing needs of Ballet dancers today.

ISTD aims to build up the dancer progressively, ensuring that steps and skills learned at lower levels prepare for more complex movements as the candidate progresses.

This will begin in June in Montrose with the following schedule, and will run through the end of January. In order to meet the required hours for the exam, additional times will be set during December after the winter performances
